“Knee-high corn” is a farmer’s measurement of the expectation of corn being at least knee-high by the 4th of July)…We could say a real american kigo to indicate the beginning of summer

Biography
Jan Benson is a haiku poet living in Fort Worth, TX.
Her work appears in translation in six foreign languages.
In 2014, Ms Benson received a pushcart nomination by Dos Gatos Press for her haiku, “adobe Walls”.
In 2016, Jan won First Prize in the Italian Matsuo Basho Awards 4th Edition, Third Prize in the OHANAMI Festival, Cherry Blossom Contest, Bulgaria, Honorable Mention in the 2016 Vancouver Cherry Blossom Contest (USA), and was published in the 2016 Red Moon Press Anthology, “dust devils”.
Her haiku are published in many of the world’s leading haiku journals. Jan is a member of The British Haiku Society and Poetry Society of Texas.
